2013 Gordon Cup

This week, Timber Lake Camp hosted the annual Gordon Cup hockey tournament.  Since the tournament’s inception, the Gordon Cup has brought 7 to 12 teams up to Saddle Mountain each year to participate. Including this year, TLC has been in the Finals for 22 out of the first 25 years. This tournament is definitely one of the most defining moments of the summer that players, campers and counselors all look forward to each and every summer.

This year, our Gordon Cup team dominated the round robin competition as we outscored the competition 11-3 earning the top seed going into the semifinals.  Timber Lake’s team then drew Tyler Hill Camp into the semifinals. However, they were no match for our Timber Lake squad.  We beat down on Tyler Hill 8-1.

Unfortunately, our team ultimately lost to Camp Greylock in a show-stopping, heartbreaking fashion during overtime.  It was a moment that brought our heartbeats down to a slow beat with a quiet recognition of defeat…

Even though our Gordon Cup team did not take back the cup this year, our campers had an amazing day and loved cheering on our TLC squad. We may not have emerged as this year’s Gordon Cup Champions, but the spirit and dedication that each of our players displayed during the tournament make them true champions in our hearts.

Congratulations to Timber Lake’s Gordon Cup team for a well-played tournament…
