Tri State Camp Conference 2014!

It is that time of the year again! That time when parents and campers alike are looking at their calendars and begin to realize that camp really IS right around the corner!!!

In the Camping Industry, we have the annual Tri State Camping Conference that helps prepare our full time staff for the summer that we have been working for all year long.  We like to call the conference “Camp For the Camp Professional” and it takes place in Atlantic City.

As we mentioned in our last blog, the week kicked off with the EPIC (Emerging Professionals In Camping) Pre Conference on Tuesday and was then followed by the first sessions of the Tri State Conference beginning on Wednesday morning.

The conference has over 3,000 camp professionals from around the country gathering in Atlantic City’s Convention Center to learn new ideas while meeting with other camp professionals that will inevitably make their camp a better experience for their camper in the upcoming summer.

The TLC Family of Camps have more than 30 attendees at the conference from each of our 7 camps.  Throughout the day, each of us attend different sessions including topics like but not limited to; Orientation, Social Media, How to Build Friendships, Customer Service, Capital, Budgeting, and much more.  After we attend these sessions, we meet back at the office to go over what we learned throughout the week.  It is a great time to contribute new and fun ideas into each of our camps and because we have so many attendees at the conference, we have the benefit of hearing many different sessions!

In addition, our own Jay Jacobs led a sessions of his own while his counterpart, Mindy Jacobs, ran a Directors Panel with Wendy Siegel, Director at Tyler Hill.  It is always great to see our TLC Family being represented at the biggest conference that the industry has to offer!

Thursday night’s culmination dinner was chaired by Michael Davidowitz from Tyler Hill and Robbie from Timber Lake.  It was an awesome event that took place at Haven Night Club in the Golden Nugget and had over 400 of the most prominent camping professionals in the industry in attendance.  What a fun way to end an amazing weekend down in Atlantic City surrounded by all of our camp colleagues!

Now that Tri-State is over, we have less than 95 days to prepare for the summer ahead….and we are hard at work!
