 What’s better than spending a beautiful day in New York City? How about being surrounded by your closest friends, while spending a beautiful day in New York City! That’s what Timber Lake’s teen campers did this past weekend when they got together for our Teen Reunion in The Big Apple.
 Our oldest campers had a great time sharing laughs, memories while sampling some delicious food and beverages. Mindy & Jay shared with them a little bit of what the upcoming summer has in store for them. Other staff members who came to hang out with the Teens included Girls’ Head Counselor Janie Schwartz, Boys’ Head Counselor Steve Bocian, Girls’ Assistant Head Counselors Romy Diamond, Liz Mayo, & Jessica Jacobs, Freshman Boys Head Counselor Jason Mercado, Group Leader Max Rudnick – even Head Basketball Coach Yousseff (YOU-SEFF-A!) showed up to see everyone!

With Turkey Day only a few days away, we are so very thankful that you and your family are a part of the TLC Family. If you think about it, family reunions at Thanksgiving are very similar to our own camp reunions! It’s a way to come together and reconnect – to keep in touch and maintain that bond that we have with each other. We get to see old friends and meet new ones while spending quality time over food and fun activities, catching up on the latest news since we last saw each other!
 This past Saturday we did just that – campers young & old, new & returning all met at Ultimate GaGa in Syosset for a fast-paced, action-packed and fun afternoon! Campers swarmed the GaGa pits and had an amazing time playing basketball – while taking some time in between games to enjoy some delicious pizza! We even watched our end-of-summer highlight video, complete with some great moments from TLC TV! It was so great to reunite and spend time with all of our campers for the first time since the summer – check out some pictures from the event below!
While you prep for the long weekend, TEENS – don’t forget to mark you calendars for our TEEN reunion on Saturday, January 28, 2012! We can’t wait to see you on that special “holiday”!

We had a such a great time visiting with all our old TLC friends who were able to make the trek up to Saddle Mountain this past weekend!
After they parked their cars and checked in, alumni watched from across the lake as two huge helicopters passed through the valley and high above, 3 skydivers began to descend upon the boys campus field with red smoke and green & white streamers – this could only mean one thing: Break Out!
 As soon as Vampire White & Pirate Green began to chant their team names, the alumni were let in to camp for a day spent at their old summer home! The morning was spent catching up with bunkmates & counselors and touring around the facilities – the mighty Timber Dome, Tiger Stadium, our new Fitness Center, the Links at Saddle Mountain (our golf course) and more! Soon, it was time for lunch and everyone wandered up to the Dining Hall for hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, watermelon and all the other BBQ favorites!

What a gorgeous day it was during our Open House this past weekend! The sun was shining as all of our new campers & parents arrived to camp for a fun-filled day. After everyone checked in, Mindy & Jay divided everyone into groups for tours led by our Head Counselors & Division Leaders. (They even got a sneak peak at some of the awesome new facilities we’re unveiling this summer!)
After the tours, everyone met back at the Dining Hall for lunch where we held a “Taste Test” to help us decide between two different types of pizzas to have this summer – everyone really liked this part of the day!
After lunch, while Mindy & Jay spoke to the parents about what to expect during their camper’s first summer here at TLC, the campers split up between the boys and girls, and went to play some games! The girls played Gaga & BBG on the Girl’s campus with Janie, Romy, Jackie, Jess, and Jen while the boys played kickball with Steve, Jason, and Robbie!

This past weekend, the TLC Family of Camps took part in an awesome charity event at Columbia University – Camp Games for a Cause! Over 30 different camps in the tri-state area, represented by their camp staff, camp alumni and camp families participated in friendly competition while raising money for a wonderful cause – SCOPE. In this, it’s inaugural year, Camp Games for a Cause raised over $34,000 for SCOPE, helping to send under-privileged inner-city kids to summer camp!
We had about 25 young alumni & staff members from the TLC family show up to compete in some favorite camp games such as gaga, volleyball, dodgeball, and a dance competition where Ross Lazerowitz from Timber Lake posed as Justin Beiber! The day finished with a perennial camp favorite (and mass chaos!) – an Apache relay! Although there was a valiant effort by all, the TLC Family of Camps team came in 2nd place, but that just means that next year we will be going for the gold!

In 75 days, Timber Lake is going to be full of happy campers playing basketball, soccer, and all of the other awesome games and sports that TLC has to offer. In preparation for the summer, our youngest campers were able to get a preview of the real camp experience this past weekend at our Hoop Starz Reunion in Ramsey, New Jersey! (more…)

What do you get when you combine beautiful weather, amazing campers, and 6 pound bowling balls? The Timber Lake Florida Reunion, of course! Last week our Floridian campers (and other Timber Lakers who happened to be on vacation down in sunny Florida) got together at Boca Bowl to reunite with some old friends. They shared pizza, soda, and lots of laughs while bowling strikes and spares!
Mindy, Janie & Liz also took some time in Florida for a “Ladies Luncheon” where they invited some of our new and returning girl campers to get together and have some pizza and get to know each other!
It was a perfect weekend, but now the only problem is that we have to wait another 115 days until we can see them again!

There are those campers who come to camp for the first time every summer, then there are those campers that are considered TLC “Lifers.”
Timber Lake’s oldest campers, also known as our “teens,” recently gathered in New York City to hang out at Tonic East. They shared laughs, memories, and of course delicious food and beverages. We in turn, shared with them a little bit of what the upcoming summer has in store for them and all of our other campers!
With only 131 days until the summer of 2011 begins, our Timber Lake Teens seem like they are certainly ready for another amazing summer, especially now that they are running the show!
