It’s school time again! Like us, you’re probably feeling a little sad that camp is over and school has begun. Back to the books & homework, counting down the days until we can come back to our summer home and all our great friends – both new and old! So to help you daydream about camp, check out some of these great photo highlights and tune in to our YouTube video channel HERE to relive all your favorite camp memories!
Just like you wrote letters home during the summer, why not write letters to camp? We’d love to hear from you! Are you starring in your school’s theater production? Did you make the lacrosse team? Send us your updates to be included in a future blog post! Submissions can be sent to letters@camptlc.com.
Before you know it, camp will be right around the corner again! Hey, it’s only 276 days away! Keep on Living 10 for 2!
We had a such a great time visiting with all our old TLC friends who were able to make the trek up to Saddle Mountain this past weekend!
After they parked their cars and checked in, alumni watched from across the lake as two huge helicopters passed through the valley and high above, 3 skydivers began to descend upon the boys campus field with red smoke and green & white streamers – this could only mean one thing: Break Out!
As soon as Vampire White & Pirate Green began to chant their team names, the alumni were let in to camp for a day spent at their old summer home! The morning was spent catching up with bunkmates & counselors and touring around the facilities – the mighty Timber Dome, Tiger Stadium, our new Fitness Center, the Links at Saddle Mountain (our golf course) and more! Soon, it was time for lunch and everyone wandered up to the Dining Hall for hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, watermelon and all the other BBQ favorites! (more…)
The last two Sundays at Timber Lake featured our 2 biggest baseball and softball tournaments of the summer at Tiger Stadium. The TLC crowd was as loud and cheerful as ever while they enjoyed ballpark franks and soda as if they were at Yankee Stadium.
First, the ladies of the Melter Cup swept through their opponents with a combined score of 37-0 en route to their 5th consecutive Melter Cup Championship. Pitcher and MVP, Collegiate girl Madison Kahn, dazzled the Timber Lake crowd breaking a TLC Melter Cup record, racking up double digit strikeouts in all 3 games played! Congrats to our Melter Cup girls for a phenomenal tournament and we can’t wait to repeat for number 6 in 2012!
This past Sunday, we held our 7th grade Boys Baseball tournament, The Owners Cup, at Tiger Stadium. The tournament featured 5 teams and was a nail biter until the very final out. Cadet Boy pitcher Ethan Schorr came in like Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the 4th inning with 2 outs and the bases loaded. The Timber Lake crowd watched as Camp Echo was at bat, hopeful for the final out with the Owner’s Cup Championship on the line. Full count, and the pitch… Popped up.. and the DIVING GRAB BY SOPHOMORE BOY JACOB BUCHBINDER AS THE TLC TIGERS CLOSE OUT THE GAME AND WIN THE OWNER’S CUP TOURNAMENT BY A SCORE OF 1-0!!
Maybe we can call up the The Steinbrenners and the New York Yankees after the season to see if our Melter Cup and Owner’s Cup teams can go head to head with the guys in pinstripes! Bring em’ on!
Rookie Day at TLC is always filled with excitement! We’ve had 2 Rookie Days where we welcomed groups of prospective Timber Lake campers who joined us for a day of fun, friendship and excitement.
Rookie Day is a one day program where we invite prospective campers to participate with other prospective and current campers in a typical day at camp. Parents start the day with their children. Then, as the children go off with their counselors and new friends for a power packed day of activities, parents get a complete tour of Camp, get to meet our staff and speak with the Directors Jay and Mindy. After that, it’s time for Parents to have some fun! Enjoy local sites, engage in some of the area’s activities and have lunch in town on us! They return later in the afternoon to pick up their “camper”, who we hope will be our future Timber Lake Camper!
We have our last Rookie Day for the summer this Saturday, July 30th – Give us a call at (845) 688-2266 to register and join us for a day full of fun! Check out the videos below from our first 2 Rookie Days and see what Timber Lake Camp is all about!
Is it really already the middle of July? Time is FLYING by and we are having an absolute blast! Our campers are busy and so much has been going on since Opening Day. Everyone is making new friends and they are fully submerged in that good ’ol TLC spirit!
One of our camper’s favorite parts of their week is QUEST – where the day is divided between activities at Outdoor Adventure and the other half lets them choose from special electives for that week.
We’ve had scuba diving experts come into camp to work with our campers in the indoor pool where they had a GREAT time diving for treasure, a Lego Robotics program where our campers programmed Lego Robots to race around an indoor track, Magic classes where our campers learned some awesome new tricks, Hard Core Lacrosse clinics with 3 college lacrosse players, Hard Core Soccer clinics, and Hard Core Basketball where we brought in a Varsity Basketball Coach. There has been so much going on it’s getting difficult to keep track of all the incredible things our campers get to choose from each week for QUEST!
Not only are they busy with different activities, but they are most definitely having so much fun too! See for yourself by checking out our TLC TV clips & photos below!
We were so excited for the summer to begin!!!! The buses pulled in through the gates filled with smiles that ran the entire length of the bus – We’ve been waiting for this day, and it finally arrived! Opening Day Summer 2011!!! Screams of joy & laughter filled the air with so many hugs for old friends, counselors and sheer excitement of what’s to come over the next few weeks. HELLO Timber Lakers!!!! We’re so glad our summer family is back together again for another season filled with fun & adventure!
♫ ♫ “I throw my hands up in the air sometimes, saying ay-oh, gotta let go! I wanna celebrate and live my life saying ay-oh, baby let’s go!” ♫ ♫
For those parents that don’t recognize those lyrics, they are from the song of the summer, Dynamite, by Taio Cruz. Whenever this song was played for the camp, everyone went crazy! But these aren’t just lyrics from the song of the summer- instead they are lyrics that described the summer in a nutshell! Our Timber Lake campers truly had an amazing time as they were really able to let go of hard work and homework at school, and enjoy themselves on a daily basis in the best camp in the world! (more…)
This past Wednesday, TLC hosted nine boys basketball teams to fight for the title of 2010 Jacobs Cup Champions. Contenders from Westmont, Seneca Lake, Lokanda, Pontiac, Camp Echo, Kinder Ring, Camp Wayne and our sister camp, Tyler Hill arrived at TLC mid-morning for the coin toss to determine the first round of match-ups.
This annual tournament is one of the most coveted titles in all of camping, and from the moment camp began this summer, the 13 players and 2 coaches that comprised TLC’s team had one goal – to BRING BACK THE CUP! After a 4-year drought, it was time to make it rain in the Timber Dome! (more…)
This past Saturday was Timber Lake’s first Rookie Day for summer 2010! Rookie Day is a day when potential campers (“Rookies”) and their parents come to Timber Lake while camp is in session to experience what we’re all about. It’s kind of like a test drive for next summer – a way for parents & campers to get to know us better, while taking part in lots of awesome camp activities! After spending just 1 day with us, many of our Rookie Day families enroll for the following summer as official TLC campers.
