Hockey Director Named Coach Of The Year!

Jaymie Harringon, Timber Lake’s Hockey Director & Gordon Cup Head Coach of 5 years, going on 6, has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year and we couldn’t be prouder!

Jaymie is now in his 5th year as the Head Coach of Franklin Pierce University and was recently featured in the University’s “Feature Friday” series which you can read HERE.  With a senior-led team, Jaymie has coached Franklin Pierce to their best record in program history.  They’re above .500 in conference play for the first time in school history!

I got the chance to talk to Jaymie about his season and his thoughts on what he has accomplished.  “I love working with kids at any age.  While success on the ice is important, the one thing that gets lost in the team’s on ice success is their achievements in the classroom.  This is the most important thing to me.  Succeeding in the classroom always comes first and my guys know that.”  Jaymie’s team of 34 players has an average GPA of 3.1.

Through hard work, determination, and staying true to their vision of the program the team was able to achieve success this season.  As Jaymie mentioned, “The Seniors have really bought in to what we’re trying to do here.  With 12 Seniors on the squad, it is a lot easier to get the message across to veterans who have bought into the system.”  Kind of reminds you of our 2nd Year Teens’ leadership on the Jacobs, Melter and Gordon Cups!

Jaymie and his wife Emilie will spend their 6th consecutive summer at Timber Lake in 2013 after meeting at camp in 2008.  No one will ever forget the epic marriage proposal from Jaymie to Emilie in 2009 on the Rec Hall stage in front of the entire camp.  The rest is history!

Congratulations again to our very own Coach of the Year – Jaymie Harrington!
