Alleyoop For Autism
It’s that time of the year again; the time of the year when buzzer beaters seem like the norm. This is the time of the year when dreams come true. With March Madness wrapping up last night and hopefully some of our TLC families doing well in their brackets (we didn’t!), we thought we’d share some other exciting basketball news from these past few weeks.
Timber Lake couldn’t have been happier to help sponsor the Alleyoop For Autism fundraiser event that took place at Jericho High School last Saturday. The purpose of this 3-on-3 basketball tournament fundraiser was to promote a greater awareness of Autism as well as to raise money for the Ascent School for Autism. 100% of the proceeds went to the school, which is a private, non-profit school for children diagnosed with autism and atypical pervasive developmental disorders. The school provides a full day, 12 month academic and behavioral treatment program to preschool and school age children from 3 to 21 years old.
Aside from Mindy & Jay who helped cheer along all the players, we also sponsored a Timber Lake Team made up of Robbie Gothelf (TLC’s Program Director), Dave Skolnik (TLC Alum & Director of Hampton Country Day Camp), Dave Wong (our CFO) and Steve Glass.
Seeing the smiles on every kid’s face while sporting a Timber Lake jersey reminded us that it won’t be long before our own basketball courts up at camp will be full of campers! We were so happy to be a part of an unbelievable cause and we look forward to next year’s tournament!
