Spotlight on Staff: Ethan
My name is Ethan, I’m seventeen years old, and I’m from Long Island, New York. I first came to Timber Lake Camp when I was just eight years old as a camper in the freshmen division. I was a camper for nine summers, and this past summer I was a Junior Counselor. As a JC, I had the responsibility of being a counselor for the Cadet Boys, who ranged in ages from 9 yrs old to 11 yrs old. I really loved being their counselor, as the boys quickly became my good friends. In addition to my JC responsibilities, I also worked with Robbie Gothelf and Steve Bocian in helping to coordinate and organize events and tournaments throughout the summer.
When I’m not at camp, I’m a high school student, and plan on attending college next fall. Some of my hobbies include playing sports, especially basketball and soccer; I have been a member of both travel and school teams in both sports. I enjoy following professional and collegiate sports, and my favorite teams are the Boston Celtics, the Tennessee Titans and Manchester United. I also enjoy sportswriting, and I am a Featured Columnist on www.bleacherreport.com
Having spent ten summers at Timber Lake, I have loved growing up at camp. I can vividly recall the first few homesick nights I had during my first summer, but those quickly ended. Camp has helped me develop as a friend, athlete and mentor, and I have matured greatly throughout my summers at camp.
Timber Lake Camp has touched me in so many ways, and I am grateful to call it my second home. The people I have met and developed relationships with are incredible, and the memories I have from camp I carry with me every day. I am so lucky to have gone to such a great camp, and I look forward to spending many more summers back at my second home.
