TLC Tigers Retain the 2012 Melter Cup!!!

Our 11th Grade and under Girls Softball Tournament, The Melter Cup, was established in 1998 and celebrated it’s 15th year this past Sunday.  In this year’s tournament, the girls competed for the cup in the best of three games against Tyler Hill Camp in our very own Tiger Stadium.

In the first game, Assistant Captain Madison Kahn pitched a shut out for the Tigers and ranked up 10 strikeouts. Our shortstop and team captain Jamie Spellman, third baseman Rachel Silverman and our other Assistant Captain, (and Timber Lake’s favorite red head), Melanie Friedman, all made tremendous contributions throughout the game that cannot go unmentioned.

Also, behind (or in this case, in front of!) every great pitcher is a great catcher. This year, 1st year Teen Jamie Richards was behind home plate catching for Madison. She did an incredible job on Sunday as she caught 10 consecutive innings for our team!

In the 2nd game of the Melter Cup series, Timber Lake was able to beat Tyler Hill in yet another shut out (6-0) and keep the cup here at TLC for the 6th year in a row!

Four weeks of hard work most definitely paid off for Timber Lake’s team with our MVP awarded to Madison Kahn for the second year in a row. GO TIMBER LAKE TIGERS!
